How Does The ORBERA Gastric Balloon Work
You’ll be given a mild sedative so that a physician from the Valley Care Clinics Weight Loss Surgery Center can insert a deflated balloon through your mouth and into your stomach. When the balloon is in place, the physician will fill it with a safe saline solution so that it takes up space inside your stomach and makes your feel full.
The balloon will remain in your stomach for six months, while you and your physician work with a team of healthcare professionals to develop a diet and exercise program designed specifically for your needs.
After six months, the balloon with be deflated and removed but you will continue to work with your weight-loss team to maintain your diet and exercise program, and develop healthier lifestyle habits.
Is ORBERA™ Right For You?
The ORBERA™ Instragastric Balloon System is a non-surgical weight-loss aid that can help adults who have a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 40, and who have tried other weight-loss systems but were unable to lose weight and keep it off. To receive the ORBERA™ balloon, you must participate in a 12-month program that includes:
- The placement of the ORBERA™ balloon in your stomach for six months.
- A healthy diet and exercise plan for the six months the ORBERA™ balloon is in place, and for six months after it is removed.
If you do not follow the diet and exercise plan, you may not experience significant weight loss, or may not lose any weight at all.
